Relay Countdown...30 days

The Relay For Life event is only one month away. I'm excited and nervous all at once. I've never been to an event before, and it feels strange that there will be a team in my honor - Together For Traci. I'm honored for those who have committed to participate or donate, knowing each person as a vested reason in their participation.

Tuesday night I met with Sandy, our captain, and her daughter Erika who are the hearts of our team. They both have been involved in the Relay for Life events held here in Corona and felt compelled to organize a team. I can't tell you how special I feel spending time with these two ladies. They both inspire me.

So...now it's time to get down to business. I will be posting information as the month progresses. Our first bit of business is ordering team t-shirts. Our team's fight back theme is: EARLY DETECTION IS THE BEST LIFEGUARD. Our space will be decked out to look as if you are hanging out at a lifeguard tower.




If you are planning on coming to walk for our team, and would like a team t-shirt you need to LET ME KNOW RIGHT AWAY. I need to place our order by June 3rd. The cost of the shirt is $10.00. Email jitermakaink@yahoo.com with your name and size of shirt. Send or delivery money to me as soon as you can. You do not have to purchase a shirt to walk - this is only an option.

WALK SCHEDULE:
There will be someone walking for our team from 9:00 am June 26th through 9:00 am June 27th. Our schedule is broken down in half-hour increments. Email Sandy at sandra.poblete@sbcglobal.net to request a time you would like to commit to walking. We are hoping the college students (and all those night owls) will sign-up for the early morning hours. I hear the midnight madness celebration is something you don't want to miss. You can also let me know a time and I will forward it to Sandy.

DECORATIONS:
If anyone is a lifeguard or has the ability to get any items that we can borrow to decorate our relay space with, please let Sandy know. We specifically would like a small child's jeep if anyone in Corona has one.
